King Cobras Victorious in Low Scoring Affair

In an even matchup of teams jockeying for a wild card, King Cobras showed that defense wins games as they keep Cool Runnings on the schneid with a 12-8 win, thus elevating themselves into the second seed in the North Conference.

“We had rough times in the beginning of this season,” said Adrian Grandison, team captain of the King Cobras (3-2), “We were able to get it together and hoping to get hot at the right time for the playoffs.”

Grandison finished the game with 4 catches for 65 yards and a touchdown, to go along with 2 tackles and a sack on defense.

The order of the day was defense in this game, atypical for both teams, as they had given up a combined 97 points in their previously played games. Cool Runnings took an early 8-0 lead off a 40 yard catch and run by WR Mahin Beniprasad, who missed last week due to injury. After a host of bad quarterbacking early on, the Cobras seem to have found their man in newly acquired QB Ezra, who found RB/LB Adrian Grandison for a 24 yard touchdown to close the gap to 8-6 at the half.

The second half was a defensive struggle for the most part, as neither team was able to get much going on offense. However, Ezra was able to thread the needle and connect with WR/LB Jeffrey Jean in the corner of the end zone for his second 24 yard touchdown strike in what would prove to be the game winner. Ezra finished the game 11/26 for 188 yards, 2 touchdowns and no picks.

“There’s just no excuse for today’s loss,” said Gregory Young, captain of Cool Runnings (0-5), “We had another one in our grasp and we let it slip away again. We have an outside shot of getting in, but we’re not going to give up.”

Young finished the game with 2 catches for 20 yards and a tackle.
